Sessions | Seminar Handouts

This two-day seminar is intended to fill a void in intermediate level reinsurance education. The target audience includes mid-level reinsurance actuaries, experienced non-reinsurance actuaries seeking to expand their skills, and quantitatively oriented underwriters and brokers who are looking to increase their understanding of reinsurance pricing techniques. Sessions will be at an intermediate track level, but will include many advanced concepts.

The program will start with a review of reinsurance structures, including a discussion of how those programs can be tailored to meet the needs of clients and the issues that some structures create for reinsurers. This presentation will also cover pricing prorata reinsurance. The next set of sessions will review excess of loss experience and exposure rating for both property and casualty. Another session will discuss methods for determining aggregate distributions, how those distributions are used to analyze loss sensitive treaty features, and the key issues encountered during this process.

The next set of sessions will review line of business specific issues and pricing approaches. Areas covered will include property catastrophe modeling, professional liability, and workers compensation. The final afternoon will include a panel discussion covering many issues faced by reinsurance pricing actuaries and a small group project, which will include a discussion of difficult issues faced by pricing actuaries and a case study.
